Osmania University Hosts National Seminar on AI Impact in Accounting Education

The Osmania University College of Commerce and Business Management, in collaboration with the Hyderabad branch of the Indian Accounting Association, organised a one-day national seminar in Hyderabad on Saturday. The seminar focused on the theme "Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Accounting Education: With Special Reference to Curriculum Design, Execution and Assessment".
Academic leaders and experts at the event discussed the changing demands of the profession and stressed the necessity of updating curriculum frameworks, refining pedagogical methods, and upgrading assessment standards.
Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Prof. M Kumar highlighted the need to prepare graduates for a rapidly evolving, technology-centred professional ecosystem. He emphasised modernising educational structures to keep pace with industry developments.
College Principal Prof. Indrakanti Sekhar noted that higher education institutions must stay ahead of the curve in adopting modern tools. Osmania University Registrar Prof. G Naresh Reddy addressed how rapid advancements in artificial intelligence are redefining traditional accounting practices.
Prof. D Obul Reddy, Chairman of the Indian Accounting Association Hyderabad Branch, observed that modern accounting now requires more than foundational knowledge. He stated that graduates need to develop technological, analytical, problem-solving, and professional capabilities to succeed in the field.
