Opposition Parties Plan Protests in Hyderabad as Congress Nears 1,000-Day Mark

HYDERABAD — Opposition parties in Telangana are preparing a series of demonstrations and political campaigns as the Congress government approaches its 1,000th day in office, with the battle lines set to sharpen during the upcoming legislative assembly session starting on September 7.

The Congress administration will officially complete 1,000 days in governance on September 2. Ahead of this milestone, opposition parties, including the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), have drawn up independent protest schedules to target the state government over its policies and track record.

At Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad, the BRS is scheduled to formally release a comprehensive charge sheet on September 1, detailing what the party classifies as governance failures and shortcomings during the Congress tenure. The regional party plans to take its public outreach campaign across the state for an entire week starting September 2.

According to BRS leaders, the week-long initiative will focus on countering what the party describes as misinformation regarding the implementation of key welfare schemes and election promises. BRS organisers also intend to draw public attention to state financial management issues and alleged delays in delivering promised welfare measures. The week-long programme is scheduled to conclude on September 10 with protests involving employee unions and teachers' organisations.

Concurrently, the Telangana BJP has chalked out its own series of agitations focused on public and policy issues. The BJP's demonstrations are planned around matters concerning Section 22A land regulations, pending fee reimbursement dues, and unresolved issues affecting farmers.

With both major opposition parties taking their agitation to the ground and the assembly session scheduled to commence on September 7, political exchanges between the ruling party and the opposition are expected to intensify in the coming days.
