Only 240 of 1458 Hyderabad private junior colleges receive TGBIE affiliation

The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has delayed the affiliation process for private unaided junior colleges in Hyderabad, causing severe admission anxiety among students and parents. Almost a month after Intermediate classes commenced for the current academic year, only 240 out of 1,458 private unaided junior colleges have received official affiliation, while many institutes are still awaiting affiliation for the year 2026-27.

The ongoing delay has left parents deeply concerned about the validity of their children's admissions. Many are worried about what would happen to the students if a college fails to secure its official affiliation after they have already taken admission and started attending classes.

M Praveen, a parent facing this dilemma, shared his struggle to find a secured seat for his son. Praveen initially wanted his son to join a junior college located near his house, but he did not go ahead with the admission because the institution had not received its affiliation.

When Praveen checked a few other junior colleges in his nearby areas, he realized that those institutions had also not received their affiliations for this year. Left with no other option, he had to enroll his son in a college after checking last year's data, hoping that the college would eventually secure its affiliation this year as well.

Another parent, G Sreelatha, expressed frustration over the delay and stated that the TGBIE should have completed the affiliation process much before the academic year officially began. Sreelatha noted that many colleges had already commenced their classes in the summer itself, yet the board has not completed the affiliation process even now.

With the majority of private unaided junior colleges still operating without completed affiliation sanctions, parents and students in the city continue to navigate the academic year with uncertainty.
