Only 240 of 1458 Hyderabad Private Junior Colleges Get TGBIE Affiliation

Almost a month after Intermediate classes commenced in Hyderabad, the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has yet to complete the affiliation process for private unaided junior colleges. Out of 1,458 private unaided junior colleges in the region, only 240 have been sanctioned affiliation so far, leaving a vast majority of institutions operating without official approval.
This significant delay has triggered severe admission anxiety among parents and students. Many families are deeply concerned about the future of students who have already secured admission, fearing the consequences if their chosen colleges fail to secure affiliation later in the academic year.
The slow progress has forced several parents to make difficult choices regarding their children's education. M Praveen, a parent navigating the admission process, shared his ordeal. He explained that he initially wanted to enroll his son in a junior college near their house but hesitated due to issues surrounding its affiliation status.
Upon checking other colleges in nearby areas, Praveen discovered that those institutions had also not received their affiliation for this year. Left with no other viable options, he enrolled his son in a college after checking its affiliation data from the previous year, hoping the institution would eventually get approved for the current academic year.
Another parent, G Sreelatha, expressed frustration over the board's timeline. She pointed out that the TGBIE should have concluded the entire affiliation process well before the academic year began. Sreelatha noted that many colleges had already started conducting classes during the summer, yet the board has failed to finalize the affiliations even now.
With the affiliation process for the year 2026-27 still pending for the majority of these 1,458 private unaided junior colleges, students in Hyderabad continue to attend classes under a cloud of uncertainty, hoping for a swift resolution from the education board.
