One-Way Traffic System Around Hyderabad's KBR Park to Take Effect From August 18

A one-way traffic system will be implemented around KBR Park in Hyderabad starting August 18, 2026, to accommodate the ongoing construction of flyovers and underpasses under the H-CITI project. Hyderabad Traffic Police announced the decision on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, following trial runs conducted earlier in the year.

Addressing a press conference in the city on Tuesday, City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjannar detailed the measures being put in place to ensure a smooth commute. Traffic signages will be placed at strategic points, while lane markings and lane changers will be arranged at required locations along the route.

To assist commuters in planning their journeys, necessary route changes will be updated in Google Maps. Traffic police personnel will also be deployed round-the-clock at key locations around KBR Park to manage the movement of vehicles.

The department plans to continuously monitor traffic flow along the route through the Integrated Command and Control Centre and CCTV network. Additionally, drone-based monitoring will be utilized for real-time assessment of commuter movement and potential congestion.

The implementation follows two trial runs conducted on April 5 and June 21 to assess traffic flow, lane discipline, congestion points, and commuter movement. Based on the observations from these trials, necessary modifications were included before finalising the one-way traffic movement system.

Given that KBR Park sees a considerable number of regular walkers and visitors in the morning and evening hours, the police urged visitors to park vehicles only in designated parking zones and adhere strictly to the revised traffic flow during morning and evening peak hours.

Police also appealed to commuters to avoid driving on the wrong side of the road or against designated traffic flow, even during night and off-peak hours. Drivers were specifically advised not to park on the wrong side of the road, on bends, or in any manner that obstructs traffic, creates bottlenecks, or blocks emergency movement.
