One-Way Traffic System Around Hyderabad's KBR Park to Begin on August 18

The Hyderabad Traffic Police will introduce a one-way traffic system around KBR Park starting August 18 to accommodate the ongoing construction of flyovers and multi-level structures in the area.

Arrangements are being put in place to ensure smooth vehicular movement and minimise disruption to commuters. The police finalised the temporary restrictions after conducting comprehensive traffic studies, monitoring trial runs, and coordinating with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Officials also consulted local residents, morning walkers, and resident welfare associations to fine-tune the diversion plan.

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar stated that the temporary traffic arrangements are designed to facilitate the rapid completion of construction works while keeping traffic moving. While acknowledging that commuters could face initial inconvenience due to the route changes, Sajjanar noted that the measures are essential for long-term benefits and requested public cooperation during the project.

Once finished, the multi-level structures are expected to provide signal-free movement and relieve congestion across several intersections, including the KBR Park Entrance, Road No. 45, Film Nagar, Maharaja Agrasen, and Cancer Hospital junctions. The initiative is also planned to significantly alleviate traffic bottlenecks at the heavily congested Jubilee Hills Check Post Junction.

Officials noted that the improved flow of vehicles will help cut commute times between the core city and the IT corridor while reducing fuel consumption. Lowering vehicle idling times at these key junctions is also expected to help curb carbon emissions in the KBR Park vicinity.

Traffic personnel will be deployed across major junctions to assist motorists and direct flow during the initial days of the diversion. Authorities will review the traffic arrangements continuously and make necessary adjustments to prevent bottlenecks.
