Olympian Circus brings international artists and Ring of Death stunt to Secunderabad

The Olympian Circus is currently performing live shows in Secunderabad, Hyderabad, bringing a mix of international and Indian talent to local audiences. Running until July 12, the circus features gravity-defying aerial performances and daring stunts, including the high-risk 'Ring of Death'.

The show features a blend of Mexican and Indian artists. Among the headliners is Zuleika Ibarra, an aerial artist who belongs to a multi-generational circus family. Having performed in countries such as the United States, China, Japan, Turkey, and across Latin America, Ibarra expressed her excitement about performing in Hyderabad, noting the warmth of the local audience.

Her brothers, Benny Ibarra and Brandon Ibarra, are fourth-generation circus artists who perform the 'Ring of Death' act. The stunt involves a 10-foot giant steel wheel with two sides, where the brothers run both inside and on top of the rotating structure. Benny has performed professionally for 26 years, while Brandon has been performing for over 21 years. The duo has performed in 12 to 13 countries globally.

Performing the steel wheel act presents significant physical challenges, particularly due to the local climate. Brandon explained that because the act is performed entirely on metal, it carries high risks. The hot weather causes the performers to sweat, making the metal wheel slippery as they run and jump nearly 10 feet above the ground. To manage these risks, the brothers train for approximately three hours every week to maintain the necessary physical fitness.

This visit marks Brandon's fourth trip to India, having previously travelled to Hyderabad, Pune, and Mumbai. Benny shared his enthusiasm for exploring Hyderabad further and trying the city's famous chicken biryani.

The Olympian Circus continues its daily performances in Secunderabad, offering local residents a chance to experience traditional circus acts and international stunts firsthand until the show concludes on July 12.
