NMDC Q1 Net Profit Rises 2% to Rs 2,007 Crore as Production Surges 26%

Hyderabad-based state-owned mining enterprise NMDC Ltd announced on Friday that its profit after tax for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, increased by 2 percent to Rs 2,007 crore, up from Rs 1,969 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
The country's largest iron ore producer also reported a 2 percent rise in turnover during the same period. The Navratna public sector undertaking posted a revenue of Rs 6,795 crore in Q1 FY27, compared to Rs 6,634 crore in Q1 FY26.
On the operational side, NMDC registered a significant jump in iron ore extraction. The miner produced 15.12 million tonnes of iron ore during the first quarter, marking a 26 percent increase over the 11.99 million tonnes produced in Q1 FY26. Total iron ore sales also rose by 2 percent year-on-year to 11.73 million tonnes, compared to 11.52 million tonnes in the prior-year period.
NMDC Ltd Chairman and Managing Director Amitava Mukherjee said the company has begun FY27 on a strong footing, noting that higher output and improved profitability reflect operational resilience and strategic discipline.
Mukherjee added that the company is currently progressing toward its target of achieving 60 million tonnes of production in FY27, with a broader roadmap to scale output up to 100 million tonnes by 2030.
According to Mukherjee, the public sector miner is focusing on scaling volumes, enhancing productivity, and unlocking value from mineral resources to secure the iron ore supply required for India's ongoing industrial expansion.
