Nizamabad police arrest woman and two others for poisoning Gulf returnee husband

The Nizamabad police have arrested three individuals, including a woman, for the alleged murder of a Gulf returnee in Nizamabad, Telangana. The suspects reportedly attempted to cover up the homicide by staging it as an accidental fall from a cot, though police later uncovered a plot involving sedation and poisoning.

The victim, identified as D Prashanth, was a labourer who had recently returned home from the Gulf on June 27. He died just three days later, on June 30. Following his death, his wife, Sandhya, informed his parents that Prashanth had passed away after suffering an accidental fall from a cot.

However, Prashanth’s mother, D Shamala, suspected foul play regarding the sudden death of her son. She subsequently lodged a formal complaint with the police, which prompted a deeper investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

During the investigation, police officers uncovered evidence suggesting that the death was the result of a conspiracy. The plot was allegedly orchestrated by Sandhya and her paramour, M Anil. According to Nizamabad South Rural Circle Inspector Suresh Kumar, Sandhya viewed her husband as an obstacle to her relationship with Anil.

To execute the plan, Anil enlisted the help of his friend, Venkata Sai, shortly after Prashanth returned from the Gulf. The accused individuals allegedly administered sedatives and bathroom cleaning liquid directly into Prashanth’s veins using a cannula, which ultimately caused his death.

Although the police made the arrests on Saturday, the details of the conspiracy and the arrests of Sandhya, Anil, and Venkata Sai only came to light on Monday.
