Nizam College Students Protest in Hyderabad Over Delayed Hostel Allocation

Tension prevailed at Nizam College in Hyderabad as a large number of students staged a protest demanding the immediate allocation of hostel accommodation. Protesters expressed frustration that despite more than one month having passed since the commencement of the academic year, the college administration has failed to allocate hostel rooms to students.
Gathering outside the Principal’s office on the college premises, the student protesters raised slogans such as "We want justice" and attempted to enter the Principal’s chamber. Police personnel who reached the college intervened and prevented the protesting students from entering the chamber.
According to the protesters, nearly 1,000 students have sought hostel accommodation for the current academic term. Students noted that the college administration is yet to respond to their request regarding room allotments.
Hostel accommodation at Nizam College has been a long-standing issue for students. Last year, a large number of students similarly staged a protest after the college administration allegedly refused hostel accommodation to several eligible candidates.
