Nitin Nabin Says Development and Extremism Cannot Coexist at Warangal Tribal Meeting

BJP leader Nitin Nabin addressed a meeting of tribal leaders in Warangal on Monday, asserting that the development of tribal communities and Left-wing extremism cannot coexist. Speaking in the city, Nabin highlighted the Union government's efforts to curb Maoist activities and boost tribal welfare funding.

During his address, Nabin cited the Bastar region as an example of how sustained anti-Naxal operations have paved the way for regional progress. He stated that Maoist activity had seen a sharp increase after the Congress party came to power in Chhattisgarh in 2018. However, he noted that the BJP, under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has since intensified security operations to free Bastar and other Maoist-affected pockets across Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Telangana from Left-wing extremism (LWE).

Nabin explained that decades of Maoist influence had severely hindered progress, even preventing basic land surveys in several tribal areas. According to the BJP leader, this lack of administration deprived tribal communities of their fundamental rights. "Development and extremism cannot go together," Nabin asserted, reiterating the party's commitment to the all-round development of tribal communities.

To support his claims of developmental progress, Nabin contrasted the financial allocations of the current and previous central governments. He claimed that while the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government had allocated around Rs 4,000 crore for tribal welfare, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has increased this outlay to nearly Rs 15,000 crore.

According to Nabin, the central government is actively investing these funds into education, healthcare, infrastructure, and livelihood programmes to improve the socio-economic conditions of tribal communities.

Recalling the historical significance of Warangal, Nabin also paid tribute to local cultural icons. He stated that the spirit of Sammakka and Saralamma continues to inspire tribal women in Telangana, reflecting the community's long-standing tradition of courage and sacrifice.
