Niloufer Hospital Sees Surge in Pediatric Flu and Viral Fever Cases

State-run Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad has witnessed a sharp surge in pediatric patients reporting flu-like symptoms, with nearly a hundred children being admitted daily.

The hospital's pediatric emergency and outpatient wards have become crowded with parents bringing children who present with high fever, persistent coughs, headaches, and body aches.

Doctors at the hospital attributed the rapid increase in seasonal influenza and H1N1-like viral infections to changing weather conditions and high humidity levels. Young children have been particularly affected by complications such as viral pneumonia and acute respiratory distress.

Senior pediatricians have urged parents to remain vigilant, avoid self-medication, and seek professional medical attention during the critical early days of an illness. They advised that children suffering from prolonged high temperatures, persistent vomiting, or breathing difficulties should be brought to a hospital immediately.

Medical professionals have also advised families to follow basic preventive measures to curb transmission, including regular handwashing, wearing masks in crowded public spaces, and keeping sick children home from school.
