NHAI Extends Northern Regional Ring Road Tender Deadline to September 23

The National Highways Authority of India has once again postponed the bidding deadline for the northern section of Telangana's Regional Ring Road, pushing the date to September 23.

Bids for the project were previously scheduled to be opened on August 21. A senior Roads and Buildings official stated that the process has been delayed again due to reasons known to Central government authorities.

The project covers the construction of a 161-kilometre, six-lane stretch connecting Sangareddy and Choutuppal along NH 161AA. The initiative is being executed under Phase-I of the Bharatmala Pariyojana via the Hybrid Annuity Model.

NHAI originally invited bids for the northern corridor on November 11, 2025. However, the procurement timeline has experienced several revisions, with previous extensions moving the deadlines to July 6, August 6, and August 20 before the latest postponement.

The ongoing delays are linked to pending clearances from the Central government. While all other mandatory permissions for the northern section of the Regional Ring Road have reportedly been secured, formal clearance from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs remains pending.

The Central government has allocated Rs 23,935 crore to the NHAI to execute the infrastructure project. Despite the financial allocation, the tender process continues to stall as official approvals remain awaited.
