New Sitaphalmandi-Lallaguda Chord Line Inspected To Shorten Kazipet-Kacheguda Route

On Wednesday, South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava inspected the newly commissioned Sitaphalmandi-Lallaguda chord line in Hyderabad. The new 3 km rail stretch connects the Secunderabad-Kazipet main line with the Secunderabad-Dhone line, allowing trains to bypass Secunderabad station and reducing travel times between Kazipet and Kacheguda.
During the visit, General Manager Srivastava conducted a detailed trolley inspection of the newly laid section. His review focused on the signalling systems, as well as the points and crossings along the route to ensure operational readiness.
The newly commissioned chord line is expected to bring major relief to railway operations in the area. By enabling trains from Kazipet to reach Kacheguda directly via Lallaguda, the line bypasses the congested Secunderabad station. This new route reduces the travel distance by approximately 12 km and cuts down travel time by around 20 minutes.
Previously, trains operating between Kazipet and Kacheguda had to take a longer route of about 15 km, passing through Moula-Ali and Malkajgiri. The new alignment is designed to ease this congestion and improve overall operational efficiency for the South Central Railway.
According to railway officials, the infrastructure project features five minor bridges and a major road underbridge located at Alugadda Baavi. Additionally, an automatic signalling system has been installed along the 3 km section to manage train movements safely.
The chord line originates from Lallaguda, passes through the Sitaphalmandi ‘A’ and ‘B’ cabins, and ultimately joins at the Sitaphalmandi station.
In addition to the track inspection, the General Manager also conducted a thorough review of the Sitaphalmandi station. He inspected the station's circulating area, cleanliness levels, waiting hall, ticket counters, platforms, and various passenger amenities. Srivastava also reviewed the Station Master’s room, signalling systems, and safety equipment at the station to ensure all facilities meet the required standards.
