New One-Way Traffic System Around KBR Park Triggers Peak-Hour Gridlock

The rollout of a new continuous one-way vehicular movement system around KBR Park triggered major traffic snarls and widespread confusion on Tuesday morning, leaving commuters heading toward Jubilee Hills, Madhapur, and Hitec City facing severe delays.

Traffic police barricaded key intersections, causing gridlocks particularly during the morning peak hours between 8 am and 11 am. Motorists and daily office-goers voiced frustration as long detours and unfamiliar diversions caused heavy congestion across KBR Junction, Jubilee Hills Check Post, Indo-American Cancer Hospital, Maharaja Agrasen Island, and Film Nagar.

At the Jubilee Hills Check Post junction, police blocked vehicles arriving from Yousufguda and Secunderabad from proceeding directly toward the check post metro station, situated roughly 200 metres away. Instead, drivers were directed onto an extensive detour through KBR Junction, the Indo-American Cancer Hospital, Maharaja Agrasen Island, and Film Nagar before reaching the check post.

Similar disruptions affected daily commuters travelling from the Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge and Madhapur toward Film Nagar, Maharaja Agrasen Island, and the Indo-American Cancer Hospital, who were diverted toward the Jubilee Hills Check Post. The unexpected diversions led to arguments between motorists and traffic personnel on the ground, creating further bottlenecks.

Commuters expressed anger over the extended travel times and fuel consumption. Anup Reddy, a commuter, stated that an otherwise two-minute journey to reach Madhapur was turned into an unnecessarily long detour due to confusing diversions at the check post area. Rami Reddy, an IT professional, said police should allow IT workers commuting daily to Hitec City, Madhapur, Gachibowli, and Manikonda to pass through the junction rather than forcing them onto longer routes.

Another commuter, K Raju, noted that his regular route from Yousufguda to Film Nagar was restricted, forcing him to navigate KBR Junction instead. Motorists travelling toward Gachibowli also reported significant extensions to their daily commute.

Although congestion eased somewhat by Tuesday afternoon, confusion persisted for first-time drivers, with many struggling to position themselves in the correct lanes to take the designated arcs at the newly configured junctions.
