New Book 'The Glyder Advantage' Launches at Taj Krishna in Banjara Hills

Authors Gopinathan CP, Ritu Vinaya Vinayak, and sports psychologist Dr. Sandy Gordon have launched their new book, 'The Glyder Advantage', at the Taj Krishna hotel in Banjara Hills. The book explores how mental skills utilized by elite athletes in competitive sports can be adapted by everyday individuals, including students and professionals, to manage pressure, build resilience, and improve performance.

According to Gopinathan, the inspiration for the book came from looking beyond conventional approaches to personal development. He shared that the co-authors realized athletes must perform under intense pressure every day, making sports psychology a unique and practical framework to help students and corporate workers navigate their own challenges.

The authors emphasized that the conversation around managing pressure is highly relevant today. Gopinathan noted the immense pressure children face regarding examinations, while Ritu pointed out that modern challenges like social media, high expectations, and constant comparison have created a different environment than in previous generations. She described the book as a guide to self-management that children should ideally learn from a young age.

To write the book, Gopinathan and Ritu, who are married, business partners, and former college classmates, partnered with Dr. Sandy Gordon, a well-known figure in sports psychology. Their collaboration began in 2024 with visits to Australia to study his research and workshops, followed by months of shaping the material.

Condensing the research proved to be one of the main hurdles during the writing process. Gopinathan explained that the team had to analyze a vast ocean of information and experiences, ultimately distilling it into a book of 300 to 400 pages. Ritu added that simplifying these complex psychological ideas without losing their core meaning was a significant challenge.

Through 'The Glyder Advantage', the authors hope to show readers that the mental skills required to handle pressure are trainable, learnable, and practicable. They also aim to remind readers that they are not alone in their struggles, and that even small shifts in mindset can help them move forward.
