Nearly 35 Lakh Telangana Electors Receive Voter Forms Amid Urban Hiccups

Nearly 35 lakh electors across Telangana, including Hyderabad, have received voter enumeration forms during the first two days of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive, despite facing minor delays and technical hiccups in urban areas. Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy confirmed that the distribution of forms resumed on Friday in most constituencies where the exercise had briefly faltered on the first day of the drive due to Muharram.
The ongoing enumeration drive is currently concentrated in cities and basthis across the state. However, election officials acknowledged that gated communities and apartment complexes remain largely uncovered at this stage of the campaign. To address this gap, booth-level officers (BLOs) will need to intensify their door-to-door visits to these specific residential clusters in the coming days.
In urban areas, BLOs are also grappling with the significant challenge of reaching out to electors who have shifted away from their registered addresses. This has emerged as a prominent hurdle for officials trying to ensure the voter rolls are updated accurately.
Alongside these logistical challenges, several technical complaints have surfaced in parts of Hyderabad. Residents reported various errors in pre-printed particulars and photograph mismatches on the distributed forms. In some instances, electors even reported receiving completely blank forms from the visiting officers.
One local resident, Yash Khetarpal, shared his experience with the distribution process, noting that a BLO had left enumeration forms at his house. However, the form issued in his wife’s name carried the photograph of an unidentified man instead of her own.
Chief Electoral Officer Reddy addressed these growing complaints, terming them "isolated incidents" that do not reflect the overall execution of the massive statewide exercise. Officials are continuing the drive to ensure all eligible voters are successfully reached.
