Nayanthara and Kavin Star in Vishnu Edavan's Directorial Debut Film Hi

The romantic drama Hi, starring Nayanthara and Kavin, was released in both Tamil and Telugu on August 28, 2026. Directed by Vishnu Edavan in his directorial debut, the film features Nayanthara doubling as both the lead actress and co-producer alongside Vignesh Shivan and SS Lalit Kumar.

The storyline centres on Subrahmanyam, played by Kavin, a gentle and timid young man from Rajahmundry who has experienced rejection from women throughout his life. After his parents arrange a marriage for him, he decides to flee his home. At the same time, Devasena, portrayed by Nayanthara, is a determined woman from Bhimavaram who runs away from an unwanted arranged marriage. The narrative follows what happens when their paths cross in Hyderabad.

In addition to the lead pair, the film features performances by the late actor Bhagyaraj in a brief appearance, alongside veteran actors Radhika Sarathkumar, Prabhu, and VTV Ganesh. The technical crew includes music composer Jen Martin, cinematographers Rajesh Shukla and Leon Britto, and editor Philomin Raj.

The film has drawn mixed assessments for its familiar romantic-comedy plot and pacing in the second half. While the lead performances, select comedic sequences, and musical score were noted positively, the narrative and screenplay faced criticism for predictability and underutilising its seasoned supporting cast.
