Nalgonda Police Arrest Four Suspects for Murder of Family in Telangana Colony

Nalgonda police on Friday arrested four people in connection with the murder of four members of a family at Telangana Colony in Nalgonda town. The victims, who were killed on June 19 and whose bodies were discovered on June 22, were identified as Sultan, 45, his wife Haseena, 40, their 20-year-old son Muzammil, and 11-year-old daughter Afsara.

Addressing a press conference at the District Police Office, Superintendent of Police Sharath Chandra Pawar announced the arrests of Syed Aslam, 28, and his wife Tabassum, 28, both residents of Fakath Nagar. The other arrested individuals are Mohammed Sohail, 26, from Bandlaguda, and Hemanth Kumar, 28, a jewellery shop owner in Saroor Nagar, Hyderabad.

According to the police, the murders were the result of a financial dispute and a subsequent conspiracy to commit robbery. Tabassum is the daughter of Haseena's sister, Tahira Begum. Aslam had previously borrowed Rs 1 lakh from Haseena at a high rate of interest. When he later sought another loan, Haseena refused and demanded the repayment of the initial amount, leading to frequent disputes.

Tabassum subsequently learned from Haseena's daughter that cash and gold ornaments were kept in the house. She and Aslam then conspired to steal the valuables. Although Aslam and Sohail had broken into the locked house in February, they failed to find any valuables during that attempt.

On June 19, Aslam scaled the compound wall of the house at around 2 am and hid inside. At approximately 5 am, he attacked Haseena with a knife when she came out to use the bathroom. When Sultan rushed to help his wife, Aslam stabbed him to death as well. Aslam then attacked Muzammil, and dragged 11-year-old Afsara out from under a bed where she was hiding before killing her.

Following the murders, Aslam fled the scene with five tolas of gold ornaments and land documents. Prior to the crime, Aslam had allegedly watched YouTube videos on how to escape after committing murder and how to avoid police arrest.

With Sohail's assistance, Aslam pledged the stolen gold with Hemanth Kumar to obtain Rs 5.3 lakh. Acting on credible information, police teams arrested the four suspects near the Narketpally flyover. Officers recovered Rs 3 lakh in cash, the five tolas of gold ornaments, and the knife used in the crime. Seven police teams had been formed to investigate the case.
