MP Lingamaneni Ramesh Defends Son Over Fatal Madhapur Aston Martin Crash

Rajya Sabha member Lingamaneni Ramesh has defended his 21-year-old son, Lingamaneni Sanjush, who was booked by Cyberabad police after a fatal road crash on August 16 that claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman in Madhapur.

The victim, Bharathi Mukhi, was employed at the Lifestyle clothing store inside Inorbit Mall. According to the First Information Report, Mukhi and her colleague Pooja Ashok Alone had stepped out for lunch around 3 pm towards the ITC Kohenur area. As they were returning and Mukhi attempted to cross the road in front of the mall, she was struck by an Aston Martin registered as TG-09-G-0666. The FIR noted that the vehicle was being driven at high speed in a rash and negligent manner.

Mukhi suffered severe head injuries and heavy bleeding in the collision. She was transported to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills in the same vehicle, where she was declared dead. Her colleague subsequently notified store manager Ashwin Kumar, who contacted the police.

Addressing the incident, Ramesh, a Jana Sena Party MP from Andhra Pradesh, stated that his son did not attempt to flee the scene and is cooperating fully with investigators. He dismissed allegations that political influence was being used to protect the driver.

"Immediately after the accident, my son shifted the young woman to the hospital without any delay. He subsequently reported the accident to the police authorities and provided all the necessary details," Ramesh said. He added that three separate medical tests were administered to Sanjush and returned negative for intoxication, while offering support to the victim's family and urging the public not to prejudge the case.

The Cyberabad police registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which addresses causing death by a rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide. Assistant Commissioner of Police Ch Sridhar said a notice has been served to the accused, explaining that an arrest was not made because the offence is bailable and carries a maximum penalty of less than seven years.
