Monsoon Rains to Continue Across Telangana as IMD Forecasts Showers

Rains that began lashing parts of Telangana on Sunday are set to continue over the next few days as the monsoon reactivated after a brief lull. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers across most places in the state for the coming week, alongside yellow alerts for heavy rainfall in select districts.

Heavy rain was recorded on Sunday in Kamareddy, Vikarabad, and Narayanpet districts, while Hyderabad and surrounding localities witnessed moderate showers. The highest rainfall in the state on Sunday was recorded at Shankarampet in Medak at 110 mm. In the city and its vicinity, Ameenpur recorded the highest precipitation at 23.8 mm.

Rainfall continued into Monday across various regions. According to data up to 5 pm from the Telangana Development Planning Society, the highest rainfall in the state on Monday was registered at Ayyagaripalle in Mahabubabad with 39 mm. In and around Hyderabad, Ghatkesar recorded 16 mm of rainfall.

In Hyderabad, persistent drizzle continued throughout Monday amid overcast skies and reduced temperatures. While the intensity fluctuated across the city and its suburbs, rainfall remained almost continuous in several localities.

The local forecast indicates that Hyderabad and surrounding neighbourhoods will experience cloudy skies accompanied by light to moderate rain or thundershowers through Tuesday and Wednesday.
