Mob Beats Tea Vendor to Death in Jiyaguda Over Alleged Molestation of Minor

A tea vendor in his fifties was beaten to death by a mob in the Jiyaguda area of Hyderabad on Thursday afternoon, after he allegedly molested a nine-year-old girl. The violent incident occurred around 3 p.m. within the territorial limits of the Kulsumpura Police Station, sparking a police investigation into both the alleged molestation and the subsequent lynching.

The deceased man was identified as Abdul Aziz. According to local reports, Aziz worked as a local tea vendor and resided in a two-bedroom flat in the area. He lived with his mother, Ghausia Bi, after his wife had deserted him. On Thursday afternoon, Aziz approached a nine-year-old girl who was sitting nearby on a parked two-wheeler and began a conversation with her.

While he was talking to the child, a neighbor noticed Aziz touching the young girl inappropriately. The neighbor intervened and confronted the tea vendor, who was allegedly acting under the pretext of buying chocolates for the minor girl. Following the confrontation, Aziz immediately left the spot to avoid further questioning.

However, the situation escalated after closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage of the area surfaced. The footage allegedly captured Aziz in the act of molesting the nine-year-old girl. After the video footage became public, an angry mob gathered and launched a physical assault on the tea vendor, beating him severely.

Upon receiving information regarding the ongoing mob violence in Jiyaguda, the Kulsumpura Police rushed to the location. Police officers managed to rescue Aziz from the mob and immediately shifted him to the Osmania General Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite efforts to save him, Aziz succumbed to the injuries he sustained during the beating.

The Kulsumpura Police have launched a formal probe into the entire incident. In connection with the case, the suspect's mother, Ghausia Bi, has filed a counter-complaint with the police. In her complaint, she alleged that her son died as a direct result of the severe physical injuries inflicted upon him during the mob assault.
