MMC Commissioner Reviews Civic Works and Nala Waste Dumping at Nagole Circle

MMC Commissioner Reviews Civic Works and Nala Waste Dumping at Nagole Circle

Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy conducted a field inspection at Nagole Circle in Hyderabad on Monday to review ongoing civic works and monitor sanitation practices in the area.

During the inspection, the Commissioner reviewed pending works across multiple municipal wings, including engineering, sanitation, entomology, UCD, and EPTRI.

While assessing the area, Reddy observed a resident dumping pooja waste into a nala connected to a lake. Rather than treating the act solely as a civic violation, the Commissioner personally engaged with the individual on the spot to address the issue.

Reddy explained to the citizen that dumping pooja materials into drains obstructs water flow, blocks drainage channels, and leads to water stagnation. He noted that such blockages adversely affect the health of local lakes and surrounding residential neighbourhoods.

During the interaction, the resident was also informed about Project Udvasana, an initiative facilitating the respectful and safe disposal of religious items. Under the programme, old idols and photo frames can be handed over at designated collection centres every Saturday, while other pooja waste can be channelled through the designated municipal waste-collection system.
