Missing Hyderabad Student Manideep Reddy Gujja Found Dead in Helsinki Sea

The body of an 18-year-old engineering student from Hayathnagar in Rangareddy district, Hyderabad, who had been missing in Finland since May, was recovered from the sea in Helsinki on July 9, 2025. The deceased student, identified as Manideep Reddy Gujja, had moved to Finland earlier in the year to pursue his higher education.
Manideep was a student at LUT University, located in Lahti, Finland, where he had enrolled to study engineering. His body was found off the coast of Kruunuvuorenranta in Helsinki during a coordinated search operation.
According to local authorities in Finland, there is currently no suspicion of foul play surrounding his death. However, the exact cause of death remains under active investigation by the police.
The timeline of his disappearance began on May 5, 2025, when Manideep reportedly traveled from Lahti to Helsinki using the Z-train. He was last seen in the Kruunuvuorenranta area of Helsinki. Finnish police stated that his last confirmed sighting was at a local K-Market store in that area.
Following his disappearance, a large-scale search operation was launched. The search was led by Finland’s National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), with active assistance from the Helsinki Police and the Finnish Border Guard.
Manideep’s family back home in Hyderabad shared details of their last communication with him. Family members said he last spoke to them on May 5, 2025. During that final phone call, Manideep told his mother that he was at a bakery and would return to his accommodation shortly. He did not return, and his phone was switched off immediately after, leaving his family unable to contact him.
Finnish authorities have stated that they will not release any further details regarding the case at this time, as the investigation into the circumstances of his death is still ongoing.
