Missing Hyderabad student Ankam Rahul found dead in Andhra Pradesh after viral reel

The body of a 21-year-old engineering student from Hyderabad, who went missing from Kacheguda on May 27, was traced to an abandoned well in Singarayakonda, Andhra Pradesh, on June 4. The discovery was made after a local resident recognized the student, Ankam Rahul, from a viral Instagram reel posted by his family.
Rahul, a native of Jagtial district, was a BTech student at the Maturi Venkata Subba Rao (MVSR) Engineering College in Saidabad.
According to his father, Ankam Rajeshwar, the family first learned of Rahul's disappearance on May 30 when his friend, Akash, called to inform them that Rahul had been missing since May 27. Rajeshwar rushed to Hyderabad to find his son.
The father initially approached the Saidabad police, who directed him to the Kacheguda police station because Rahul was last seen in that area. A missing person case was subsequently registered on May 31.
During the initial investigation, police discovered that Rahul had boarded the Sabari Express from Kacheguda. He had reportedly told a friend that he was going out with other friends before boarding the train.
On June 4, a resident of Singarayakonda contacted the family after recognizing Rahul from an Instagram reel the family had posted to find him. The resident informed them that a body matching his description had been found in an abandoned well.
Rajeshwar alleged that the Andhra Pradesh police recovered the body tied to a heavy stone with a plastic rope and had already buried it. The identity of the body was later confirmed as Rahul through DNA testing of his mother.
The family suspects foul play in the student's death. Rajeshwar alleged that Rahul had been threatened by a few students over a girl just days before he went missing.
To seek justice and an independent investigation, Rajeshwar has filed a writ petition in the Telangana High Court, seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the circumstances surrounding his son's death.
