Ministers Lay Foundation Stone for Rs 17 Crore TGSRTC Bus Station in Kodad

On Saturday, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy officially laid the foundation stone for a new, modern Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus station in Kodad town. The upcoming transit facility is scheduled to be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹17 crore.

The foundation stone-laying ceremony, which included the traditional bhoomi puja, was held in Kodad town and attended by several local leaders along with senior TGSRTC officials. The event marked the official start of the construction process for the modern facility, which is designed to improve travel conditions for local commuters.

During their address to the gathered public, the ministers explained that the state government has designed a special plan to construct and upgrade RTC bus stations at key locations across Telangana. This initiative has been a focus for the administration since the Praja Palana (People’s Governance) government assumed office in the state.

In addition to the infrastructure upgrades, the ministers highlighted the welfare schemes implemented by the transport department. They specifically pointed to the Mahalakshmi scheme, which provides free bus travel for women. The ministers noted that the state government launched this zero-fare travel scheme within 48 hours of taking charge of the administration.

According to the data shared by the ministers during the event, the Mahalakshmi scheme has seen massive public participation. Women across Telangana have availed themselves of 32.7 crore zero-fare journeys under the scheme since its inception.

The new Kodad bus station is expected to play a key role in handling the high volume of passengers traveling through the region. Local officials and leaders present at the bhoomi puja expressed their support for the ₹17 crore project, stating that the modern station will significantly upgrade the transit infrastructure of Kodad town.
