Minister Vivek Venkatswamy Doubts Congress Election Win at Masab Tank College

Labour Minister G Vivek Venkatswamy sparked a political debate after expressing doubts about the Congress party's chances of winning the next elections during an interaction with students and staff at the Government Polytechnic College in Masab Tank, Hyderabad.
Students and staff at the Masab Tank institution had been protesting against GO Ms No. 97, a government order directing the merger of polytechnic institutions with the Shakti department, alongside other college-related issues.
During the discussion, the Minister attempted to assure attendees that the Telangana government would protect their interests. He highlighted that the State had established a Skills University aimed at enhancing student skills and boosting employment opportunities.
When students asked for an assurance that investors would not withdraw from the Skills University, Vivek responded by questioning the value of his guarantee, stating that he might lose his seat in the next elections and the Congress government might lose power.
The Minister's remarks left the assembled students and staff stunned, with video clips of the exchange spreading across social media platforms.
Following the remarks, Vivek sought to ease concerns regarding the institutional merger under GO Ms No. 97. He maintained that the transition would allow the Shakti department to provide Rs. 600 crore to upgrade polytechnic colleges across the state, assuring the audience that the change was strictly administrative from the department of technical education to the Shakti department.
