Minister Rejects Extension Request for Uppal Elevated Corridor Project

Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday directed officials and the construction agency to complete the Uppal elevated corridor within the stipulated deadline, warning that no further delays would be tolerated along the Uppal-Narapally stretch in Uppal.

Reviewing the project's progress, the minister expressed displeasure over the slow pace of construction work and instructed the execution agency to accelerate operations. He stated that the government promised the public the elevated corridor would be completed by Dasara 2026, emphasizing that officials must deliver on that commitment.

Acknowledging that commuters have endured severe traffic congestion on the Uppal-Narapally stretch for years, Komatireddy ordered the agency to increase manpower and operate in three continuous shifts. He specified that construction should proceed at night wherever feasible. Additionally, the minister directed that the 6.25-km BT road lying beneath the elevated corridor must be completed by the end of August.

To expedite progress, the minister instructed officials to speed up work simultaneously from both the Uppal end and the Narapally (CPRI) end, deploying launching girders on both sides.

During the review, the construction agency requested an extension citing rains and challenges involved in night-time construction. Minister Komatireddy rejected the request, reiterating that no delay beyond the committed schedule will be permitted.
