Minister Ponnam Prabhakar Reviews Ganesh Festival Arrangements in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD — BC Welfare and Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday held a review meeting with department officials, municipal commissioners, collectors, and police authorities to oversee arrangements for the upcoming Ganesh festival across Hyderabad.

With the Ganesh festivities scheduled to commence on September 14, the preparatory meeting brought together administrative heads, three municipal commissioners, and representatives from the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi to coordinate logistics for a peaceful and organized celebration.

Speaking to media persons following the meeting, Prabhakar stated that the government is focused on ensuring the festival is celebrated collectively and without disruption across the city. The administration is putting comprehensive arrangements in place to manage the large gatherings expected during the festive period.

The minister appealed to organizers and citizens to adopt eco-friendly practices during the celebrations. He noted that the government has urged the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi to distribute saplings to devotees and encourage the use of handloom scarves throughout the festivities.

Prabhakar also emphasized the importance of environmental protection, urging the public to install clay Ganesha idols instead of non-biodegradable alternatives. Recalling that special prayers were offered during the recent Bonalu festival for good rains, the minister suggested that utsav samithi members offer prayers at Ganesh pandals for the El Nino phenomenon to subside.

Addressing regulatory compliance, the minister added that the festivities are being organized while respecting court directives, and expressed hope that citizens would celebrate voluntarily and responsibly.
