Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha Launches Pulse Polio Drive In Borabanda

On Sunday, Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha officially launched the statewide Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme in the Borabanda area of Telangana. The vaccination campaign aims to administer oral polio drops to children under the age of five across the state, serving as a critical preventive measure to protect young children from the polio virus.
Health authorities throughout Telangana commenced the drive on Sunday morning, targeting all eligible children below five years of age. Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha participated directly in the launch of the programme at Borabanda, where he administered the oral polio vaccine drops to children.
To ensure maximum coverage and reach as many families as possible, the state government has set up special immunisation booths at various public places and major transport hubs. These vaccination booths have been established at railway stations, bus stations, airports, and local marketplaces across Telangana. By placing these booths in highly frequented public areas, health authorities aim to make the vaccine easily accessible to all eligible children.
Although the World Health Organization declared India polio-free in 2014, the Centre continues to conduct these Pulse Polio campaigns as a preventive measure. This ongoing initiative is necessary because the disease remains prevalent in a few countries globally. The campaign in Telangana aims to sustain India's hard-won polio-free status and ensure that children are protected from the threat of the virus.
