Milad-un-Nabi Celebrated Across Hyderabad with Processions and Gatherings

Hyderabad marked Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammed, on Wednesday with religious meetings, sermons, supplications, and processions across several neighbourhoods, including Banjara Hills, Secunderabad, Golconda, and Borabanda.

The annual Markazi Juloos, organised by the Markazi Milad Juloos Committee comprising Muslim faith leaders from across the city, began shortly after afternoon Zohar prayers at the historic Mecca Masjid. Hundreds of participants travelling on foot, on two-wheelers, and with camels joined the procession as it moved through the city. The committee stage featured legislators including Mir Zulfeqar and panel members such as Kamil Pasha Shuttari, accompanied by the beating of drums.

Participants waved Islamic flags and marched along the designated route passing Charminar, Gulzar Houz, Madina Building, Salar Jung Museum, Darul Shifa, Purani Haveli, Kotla Alijah, and Bibi Bazaar before culminating near Volta Hotel. Smaller groups joined the central route along the way, while similar revelry on a smaller scale took place in other parts of the city, alongside quieter home observances where families recited the Quran, narrated hadith, and read naats.

Separately, the All India Majlis-e-Tameer-e-Millat held its annual public meeting at the Exhibition Grounds. Presided over by AIMTM president Syed Ayub Hussaini, the gathering featured Islamic scholars who spoke on the seerat (life) of Prophet Muhammed and highlighted the importance of following his teachings.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar extended greetings on the occasion, describing Prophet Mohammad as a messenger of peace and confirming that the central procession proceeded peacefully. Around 2,000 personnel, including the Rapid Action Force, law and order police, traffic police, Task Force, and SHE Teams, were deployed across the city to monitor events and maintain order.

Police personnel kept a close watch against rash riding and stunt-driving on two- and three-wheelers, with the Commissioner advising youth against reckless driving to prevent accidents and legal trouble for families.
