MHA Forwards Complaint Against HYDRAA Chief AV Ranganath to Telangana Chief Secretary

The Ministry of Home Affairs has forwarded a complaint against Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) Commissioner AV Ranganath to the Telangana Chief Secretary for necessary action. The official communication regarding the complaint was circulated on social media in Hyderabad on Friday, June 5, 2026.

Under Secretary Sanjeev Kumar forwarded the public grievance, registered under number MINHA/E/2026//0019303 and dated 06/05/2026, which was submitted by Aedla Sudhaker Reddy. The ministry directed the Telangana Chief Secretary to take appropriate action as deemed fit against AV Ranganath, who is an IPS officer.

The controversy involves Bathukamma Kunta, a local water body. In a statement, Commissioner Ranganath alleged that the complainant, Reddy, is attempting to grab Bathukamma Kunta. Reddy's grievance claimed that the commissioner violated service conduct rules by making public the satellite data and evidence concerning Bathukamma Kunta while the matter was still active under the court's purview.

After the communication was leaked, the HYDRAA Commissioner posted a copy of the official document directly into HYDRAA’s official media WhatsApp group on Friday to address the situation.

Ranganath explained that the Ministry of Home Affairs routinely forwards public complaints of this nature to state governments for appropriate action. He noted that a copy of the communication is automatically marked to the petitioner during this process.

The commissioner criticized the circulation of the document, stating that individuals often share these letters online to create a false impression that disciplinary action is being contemplated against the officer. Ranganath described these efforts as routine acts and old techniques employed by litigant criminals who attempt to defame All India Services (AIS) officers who stand in the way of their wrongdoings.
