Mehfil Restaurant in Hitech City Issued Improvement Notice After Food Safety Inspection

On Saturday, food safety officials issued an official improvement notice to the management of Mehfil Restaurant in Hitech City, Hyderabad, following a routine food safety inspection that uncovered several hygiene and operational lapses. The inspection was carried out by specialized food safety teams from the Commissionerate of Food Safety, which operates under the Cyberabad Commissionerate Municipal Corporation.

One of the most critical findings during the inspection was the preparation of roomali roti in an active construction area. Food safety officials ordered this food preparation activity to be stopped immediately due to the potential health risks.

In addition to the construction area violation, the inspectors identified several other physical and operational issues within the establishment. The team noted that the restaurant suffered from inadequate kitchen space, wet floors, and an accumulation of food waste in the preparation areas. Furthermore, the inspection team observed unhygienic food grading practices and reported that the restaurant management failed to produce the mandatory medical fitness certificates for its food handlers.

As a result of these various findings, Mehfil Restaurant was evaluated on a standardized hygiene assessment scale. The establishment scored 68 out of 102 marks, which translates to a 67 percent hygiene compliance rate.

However, the inspectors also highlighted some areas where the restaurant met the required standards. The team noted that the management had successfully maintained a clear segregation between the vegetarian and non-vegetarian food preparation areas. Additionally, the food handlers on duty were found to be wearing hairnets, and the inspectors observed no signs of pest infestation inside the premises.

Based on the comprehensive findings of the visit, the authorities issued the improvement notice and formally instructed the restaurant management to take immediate corrective actions to comply with all safety norms. Food safety officials emphasized that such routine inspections are being regularly conducted across the Cyberabad region to elevate hygiene standards in local food establishments and ensure strict compliance with public health regulations.
