Medipally Police Book Woman For Rs 10 Lakh SBI Loan Fraud Using Fake Salary Slips

The Medipally Police have registered a criminal case against a woman for allegedly cheating the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Parvathapur of Rs 10 lakh. The suspect allegedly used forged salary slips and other fabricated documents to secure a personal loan, which later defaulted.
According to the police, the suspect, identified as Pratibha, approached the SBI Parvathapur branch in April 2023 to apply for a personal loan. She applied for the loan under the bank's Express Credit Scheme.
To secure the loan, Pratibha claimed to be working as a Senior Nursing Officer at the ESIC Super Specialty Hospital located in Sanathnagar. She submitted several documents to support her loan application, including her Aadhaar card, PAN card, and four months of salary slips.
Trusting the submitted documents, the bank processed the application and sanctioned a Rs 10 lakh loan. The agreement stipulated a repayment period of 72 months for the borrowed amount.
The alleged fraud was uncovered after Pratibha defaulted on her loan repayments. Due to the continuous non-payment, the bank classified the loan account as a Non-Performing Asset (NPA) in April 2025.
The NPA classification prompted the SBI management to conduct an internal verification of the borrower's profile and documentation. The internal inquiry reportedly revealed that the salary slips provided during the application process were completely forged. Additionally, the bank officials found several inconsistencies in the PAN card details submitted by the suspect.
Following the verification, the bank classified the loan account as a fraud account. In its official complaint to the police, the bank management stated that the institution incurred a total loss of Rs 8.9 lakh. This outstanding loss comprises a principal amount of Rs 7.95 lakh and accrued interest of Rs 1.02 lakh.
Based on the complaint filed by the bank management, the Medipally Police booked a case of cheating and forgery. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter. No arrests have been reported in connection with the case so far.
