Medical Council detects violations at Banjara Hills skincare clinic

The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) has uncovered medical and regulatory violations at a skincare facility in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, during a surprise inspection. Officials found that specialized skin-related treatments at V Care Clinic, located on Road No. 1, were allegedly being administered by unauthorized practitioners rather than qualified allopathic medical specialists.
During the inspection, which was part of a wider crackdown across several dermatology clinics in Hyderabad, TGMC officials discovered that three dental practitioners and two homoeopathy doctors were performing the specialized skin treatments. Under medical guidelines, such procedures must only be administered by qualified allopathic medical specialists.
In response to these findings, the TGMC has decided to register formal cases against the five practitioners. The cases will be registered under Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act.
Furthermore, the TGMC has initiated action against other doctors registered with V Care Clinic who are suspected of facilitating or overlooking these unethical practices. Following a detailed inquiry, these registered medical professionals may face disciplinary action, including suspension from medical practice under medical ethics regulations.
To prevent further unauthorized medical practice and ensure public safety, the TGMC has recommended that the Hyderabad district collector and the district medical and health officer (DMHO) immediately seize the clinic. The council has also called for legal proceedings to be initiated against the clinic's management for allowing unauthorized individuals to practice medicine.
The regulatory inspection was carried out in the presence of several medical council representatives, including TGMC vice-chairman Dr Kiran Kumar Thotawar, TGMC member Dr Vishnu Kadali, and HRDA member Dr Jalagam Vijaya.
