MBT Demands SIT Probe Into Kidnapping and Sexual Assault of Hyderabad Minor

The Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) has requested Telangana DGP CV Anand to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the kidnapping, 38-day confinement, and sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl who was rescued from Bandlaguda in Hyderabad. MBT spokesperson Amjedullah Khan raised concerns that the case points to the existence of organized gangs exploiting runaway and vulnerable minor girls.

According to the details shared by Khan, the incident began on June 1 when two individuals with prior criminal records allegedly forced the 14-year-old girl to leave her home. Following her disappearance, the victim's mother filed a complaint, and the Falaknuma police registered a case on June 3.

During her 38 days of confinement, the minor was moved across different cities, including Hyderabad, Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, and Mumbai. Khan alleged that multiple people exploited the girl during this period. He also criticized the local police, claiming they failed to make adequate efforts to trace and rescue the victim during her confinement.

The girl was eventually rescued on July 8 by the Commissioner’s Task Force from a house located in the Government Dignity Housing Complex in Bandlaguda. Following her rescue, the MBT has called for a deeper investigation.

In his representation to DGP CV Anand, Khan demanded that the Hyderabad police be instructed to form an SIT to thoroughly investigate the case. He warned that organized gangs are actively targeting vulnerable girls, particularly runaways or those coming from other districts looking for work, under the pretext of providing them shelter, and subsequently forcing them into prostitution.

The MBT spokesperson stated that a dedicated SIT probe is essential to crack the entire network and review past cases of a similar nature to prevent further exploitation of minors.
