MasterChef Restaurant at Uppal Cross Roads Fined Rs 25,000 for Food Safety Violations

The Food Safety Wing of the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation has penalized MasterChef Restaurant at Uppal Cross Roads, imposing a fine of Rs 25,000. This action was taken after food safety inspectors conducted an inspection at the establishment and uncovered a series of severe hygiene and sanitation violations.

During their visit to the restaurant at Uppal Cross Roads, officials identified several critical lapses in food handling and pest control. Inspectors reported finding active infestations of both flies and cockroaches within the restaurant's store room as well as the main dining area where customers are served.

In addition to the pest issues, the inspection team found significant violations regarding food storage. Non-vegetarian food items were stored improperly, failing to maintain the prescribed temperatures necessary to ensure safety. Inspectors also found uncovered food items, which officials noted posed a high risk of cross-contamination.

The food safety officers documented a complete absence of refrigerator temperature logs. They also reported poor personal hygiene among the food handlers employed at the restaurant.

Other physical and operational deficiencies observed at the site included uncovered garbage bins and the improper storage of food items without the use of pallets. The restaurant management was also unable to provide any pest control records to the visiting team. Furthermore, several food products on the premises were found to be missing mandatory labels.

Following the inspection, the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation Food Safety Wing confirmed the Rs 25,000 fine. Officials announced that a formal notice would be served to the management of MasterChef Restaurant. This notice will officially direct the establishment to rectify all of the highlighted deficiencies and bring the restaurant into full compliance with food safety regulations.
