Massive Fire Breaks Out At Chaderghat Second-Hand Car Godown

A massive fire broke out at a second-hand car godown near the Musi riverbed behind Chaderghat Police Station in Chaderghat, Hyderabad, on Friday afternoon, triggering panic and disrupting traffic in the area. The incident occurred at around 4:20 p.m. on July 10, 2026, and quickly spread to nearby huts and tin structures.

According to Fire Control officials, a distress call was received at around 4:20 p.m., following which seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Firefighters were engaged in efforts to bring the blaze under control, with operations underway on Friday evening.

No casualties or injuries had been reported at the time of the incident. However, the fire sent thick plumes of smoke into the sky, alarming local residents and commuters on the busy stretch. A student, who was appearing for an examination at a private educational institute nearby, said the flames could be seen rising up to the fourth floor of the building.

Preliminary probes by the Fire department suggested that the fire may have been triggered in second-hand cars or decorative material warehouses in the area. From there, it quickly spread to huts and other tin structures near the Musi riverbed. Investigators are also examining the possibility of the fire originating from a garbage pile due to careless smoking. Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad traffic police issued an alert to commuters. According to the police, due to the fire accident at the Musi River Bed behind Chaderghat Police Station, vehicular movement was slowed from Chaderghat Circle towards Chaderghat X Roads. Traffic personnel were deployed on the ground to manage the situation and ease the congestion.
