Marri Shashidhar Reddy Alleges Congress Interference in Telangana Voter Roll Revision

HYDERABAD - BJP leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy on Tuesday accused the ruling Congress government of interfering in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana. Speaking in Hyderabad, Reddy raised serious concerns regarding the integrity of the revision process, particularly highlighting the alleged inclusion of illegal infiltrators in the voters' list within the Maheshwaram Assembly Constituency.
According to Reddy, several discrepancies and issues have been flagged since the commencement of the electoral roll revision. The BJP leader stated that these concerns have been formally compiled and brought to the attention of the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana for immediate intervention and rectification.
Reddy alleged that the ruling Congress administration is actively influencing the ongoing revision process to its advantage. He emphasized the need for a transparent and unbiased execution of the Special Intensive Revision to ensure the accuracy of the state's voter database.
"There are a lot of issues being raised regarding the ongoing SIR in the state," Reddy said. "We have brought these issues to the notice of the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana. The ruling Congress government is influencing."
A primary focus of the BJP leader's allegations centers on the Maheshwaram Assembly Constituency. Reddy claimed that the names of illegal infiltrators residing in the constituency have been improperly added to the voters' list. He demanded that the authorities conduct a thorough scrutiny to address this specific issue.
"We are demanding a proper process for the ongoing SIR," Reddy added. "We have also raised the issue of votes of illegal infiltrators residing in Maheshwaram Assembly Constituency."
The Special Intensive Revision process in Telangana officially began on June 15. As per the schedule established by the election authorities, the publication of the draft electoral rolls is set for July 31. Following this, a designated period for filing claims and objections will be open from July 31 to August 30. The entire exercise is scheduled to conclude with the publication of the final electoral rolls on October 1.
