Manikonda Resident Missing in Nepal Flash Floods During Kailash Manasarovar Yatra

A 38-year-old resident of Manikonda in Hyderabad, Rallagudem Dhanpal Reddy, has gone missing in Nepal following devastating flash floods that hit the region on August 26. His family has approached the Cyberabad police and appealed to both the State and Central governments to coordinate with Nepalese authorities to trace him.

Dhanpal Reddy, also referred to as Dhanwal Reddy, had travelled to Nepal to participate in the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra. He joined a 66-member tour group organised by a travel agency and departed from Pune on August 23. He was reportedly the only traveller from Telangana in the group.

According to his family, Dhanpal last contacted them from the Nepal Immigration Centre. Three days after his departure, flash floods struck the area, and all communication ceased. His mobile phone has remained switched off since the night the floods occurred.

The prolonged lack of contact has caused severe distress to his wife, Supriya, and his mother, Anasuya. The family noted that Dhanpal is an avid traveller who undertakes journeys every year, though this was his first trip abroad.

Family members mentioned that Dhanpal, an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, has prominent Shiva-themed tattoos on his shoulders, arms, and back, which could aid search teams in identifying him. Just a week before embarking on the pilgrimage, on August 19, he had inaugurated a new saree business on Alkapur Township Road.

Seeking intervention, the family approached the Cyberabad police to assist in tracing his whereabouts and urged authorities to step up rescue and search operations with Nepal officials. Rajendranagar MLA Prakash Goud contacted the family over the phone to assure them of government support, while several local leaders also visited the residence in Manikonda to extend assistance.
