Man Sits in Pothole on Imlibun-Putlibowli Road to Protest Damaged Old City Stretches

A local resident staged a unique demonstration against poor road conditions in Hyderabad's Old City on Sunday evening by sitting inside a large pothole on the Imlibun-Putlibowli Road near the Gowliguda bus stand.

The protest by the resident, identified as Feroze, brought vehicular traffic to a standstill along the busy stretch. The demonstration was organized to highlight the daily hardships and hazards faced by motorists and pedestrians navigating severely damaged roads across southern Hyderabad.

According to local residents, the condition of several thoroughfares in the area has deteriorated significantly in recent days, with potholes multiplying following recent rainfall. The damaged road surfaces have disrupted daily commutes and raised concerns over the increasing risk of accidents for two-wheeler riders and other commuters.

As the sit-in caused major traffic disruptions, traffic police personnel rushed to the scene to clear the corridor. Officers attempted to persuade Feroze to step out of the pothole and vacate the carriageway.

Feroze initially refused to move and requested bystanders and onlookers to record videos of the protest to document the demonstration and preserve evidence in the event of his removal by authorities. Videos of the incident quickly spread across social media platforms.

The demonstration concluded after police personnel at the spot assured the protester that the damaged section of the road would undergo repairs by the following morning.
