Man Posing as Missing Son Booked in Ibrahimpatnam After Demanding Rs 40 Lakh

Ibrahimpatnam police have uncovered a fraudulent scheme where a man allegedly impersonated an elderly couple's son who went missing more than two decades ago and demanded Rs 40 lakh. The deception was exposed when the parents grew suspicious over the impostor's apparent age and threatened to verify his identity through a DNA test.
The incident came to light after Lakshma Reddy, a resident of Ibrahimpatnam, approached the local police with doubts regarding the man claiming to be his son. Lakshma Reddy's son, Srinivas Reddy, had left home approximately 24 years ago and had not returned since his disappearance.
According to police officials, the fraud was facilitated by Lakshma Reddy's close friend Mohan Reddy, who introduced a resident of Nakrekal named Yadaiah as Srinivas Reddy. Another individual, identified as Fakiru Mohan Reddy, assisted in the impersonation effort and demanded a sum of Rs 40 lakh from Lakshma Reddy for tracking down and returning the missing son after 23 years.
However, the family quickly noticed stark discrepancies during the reunion. Based on the timeline of his disappearance, Srinivas Reddy would currently be around 43 years of age, whereas Yadaiah appeared to be roughly 60 years old. When the family informed Yadaiah that they planned to conduct a DNA test, he allegedly grew nervous while continuing to insist that he was their biological son.
Refusing to accept the claims, Lakshma Reddy went to the Ibrahimpatnam police station on September 27 and lodged an official complaint. Police personnel subsequently questioned Yadaiah and confirmed through their inquiry that he was not Srinivas Reddy.
Following the verification, Ibrahimpatnam police registered a criminal case against Yadaiah and Mohan Reddy. The third accused, Fakiru Mohan Reddy, remains absconding, and officers stated that further investigation into the conspiracy is underway.
