Man Gets 5 Years in Jail for Selling Ganja Chocolates in Shamshabad

A local court at the LB Nagar court complex in Hyderabad has sentenced a 42-year-old man from Bihar to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 for selling ganja-laced chocolates in Shamshabad.

Additional District and Sessions Judge M Vani pronounced the sentence against the convict, identified as Rabindra Behara, on Monday after finding him guilty during the trial.

The case dates back to 2019, when the Prohibition and Excise Department booked Behara for allegedly peddling chocolates laced with ganja in the Shamshabad area.

Following the conclusion of the legal proceedings, the court found him guilty of the offenses and handed down the five-year rigorous imprisonment term along with the monetary penalty. Behara was subsequently sent to prison to serve his sentence.
