Man Allegedly Kills Six People In Shabad Mandal Villages Near Hyderabad

A 35-year-old man allegedly killed six people, including his wife and children, within a span of a few hours on Friday night in the farming villages of Daivalaguda and Kummariguda in Shabad mandal, located about 60 kilometres from Hyderabad. The accused, B. Raj Kumar, allegedly carried out the killings at two separate locations, leaving the local farming communities in shock and grief.

According to local residents, Raj Kumar had recently moved to Daivalaguda about six months ago, having previously lived with his parents on Kummariguda Road. On the afternoon before the incident, a relative of his wife, Sarita, noted that Raj Kumar had borrowed ₹500 to take his two sons for haircuts and buy them biriyani for lunch, appearing unusually cheerful.

The violence began late Friday night. At around 11 p.m., neighbours near the first crime scene in Kummariguda reported hearing the cries of Meghana, the differently abled elder sister of the complainant. Neighbours did not investigate immediately, as she frequently cried out for help due to her condition. Meghana was spared during the attack and is now being cared for by relatives.

At the second location in Daivalaguda, neighbours reported hearing no cries from Raj Kumar’s house. A local resident, Ishwar Kumar, noted that the family's cooler and air-conditioner were running throughout the night, which likely muffled any sounds of distress.

Police vehicles and forensic experts arrived at the narrow lanes of the villages by 3 a.m. on Saturday. Investigators photographed the crime scenes and cordoned off the two houses before transferring the bodies to Osmania General Hospital for autopsies.

The twin farming communities woke up to the news on Saturday morning, with many farmers abandoning their fields to gather near the police cordons. Relatives of the complainant alleged that they had repeatedly warned the police about potential retaliation after Raj Kumar was released on bail in a POCSO case. Future City Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi stated that these allegations regarding the lack of police protection would be examined.
