Man Allegedly Kills Elder Brother Over Funeral Expenses in Champapet

A dispute between two brothers over sharing their father’s funeral expenses escalated into violence at Kummari Basti in Champapet under the Saroornagar police station limits, resulting in the death of the elder sibling.

The victim was identified as 28-year-old Venkatesh, while the suspect was identified as his younger brother, 26-year-old Shiva.

According to information available from the police, the two brothers had been frequently quarrelling over the financial costs incurred for their father’s funeral, which took place earlier this year. The disagreement reportedly intensified after Shiva failed to contribute his share towards the total funeral expenses.

The ongoing tensions led to a fresh argument between the two at their residence in Kummari Basti. During the confrontation, Shiva allegedly attacked Venkatesh using a pair of scissors, inflicting critical injuries.

Venkatesh succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. Following the assault, Shiva fled the scene.

The Saroornagar police have registered a case regarding the incident and initiated an investigation. Police officials stated that efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the absconding suspect.
