Man Allegedly Kills 70-Year-Old Father With Axe In Muddulapally Property Dispute

A 70-year-old man was allegedly killed with an axe by his alcoholic son on Sunday night in Muddulapally village, which is located under the Mutharam police station limits in the Jayashankar Bhupalpally district. The deceased elderly man has been identified by the authorities as Rathnam Saraiah.
According to Mutharam Sub-Inspector G Ramesh, the accused son has been identified as Ravinder, who works as a daily-wage labourer. The police official stated that Ravinder was known to frequently consume alcohol and had a history of allegedly beating his father, Saraiah, during previous disputes.
The fatal confrontation unfolded on Sunday evening when a dispute broke out between the father and the son over family assets. Ravinder reportedly argued with Saraiah, demanding an immediate division of the property. This confrontation quickly escalated into a heated argument between the two men at their home.
Following the intense verbal altercation, Ravinder left the residence and went to a nearby liquor shop, where he consumed alcohol. Later that night, Ravinder returned to the family home and launched a violent attack against his father. He allegedly used an axe to strike Saraiah, who suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.
After the attack, local neighbours in Muddulapally village discovered what had happened and immediately informed the Mutharam police. A police team rushed to the spot to secure the crime scene.
The body of Rathnam Saraiah was subsequently shifted by the police to the Bhupalpally government hospital for a postmortem examination.
The Mutharam police have officially registered a case in connection with the killing. Sub-Inspector G Ramesh confirmed that a detailed investigation is currently ongoing into the matter.
