Malkajgiri to Modernise Traffic Signals Under Three-Year Civic Project

The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation has announced plans to modernise traffic junction signals at key intersections across Malkajgiri to improve commuter safety and streamline vehicular movement.
The development comes after the state government granted administrative approval for a new three-year traffic signal maintenance and modernisation project within the civic body's jurisdiction.
On Tuesday, MMC Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy convened a review meeting with officials to evaluate the functionality, maintenance status, and modernisation plans for the existing traffic signal network.
During the review, officials apprised the commissioner that there are 82 traffic signal locations spread across the corporation limits. This includes 73 traffic junction signals and nine Pelican signals intended for pedestrian crossings.
A press release issued regarding the meeting noted that 72 of the 82 signal locations are currently functioning and operational. However, 10 signals are out of service due to several factors, including ongoing infrastructure works.
Commissioner Reddy directed civic officials to actively coordinate with the departments concerned to quickly restore signals that had been damaged or removed due to flyover construction and other works executed by external agencies.
The commissioner stressed that prompt restoration must be carried out to prevent disruption to public movement and maintain road safety across all key junctions in Malkajgiri under the approved three-year modernisation initiative.
