Malkajgiri residents urge SCR to open redeveloped station alongside Hitec City on July 17

Residents and rail passengers in Hyderabad have urged the South Central Railway (SCR) to include the Malkajgiri Railway Station in the upcoming proposed inauguration of redeveloped stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The appeal comes as the Hitec City Railway Station, which has also been redeveloped under the same scheme, is proposed to be virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 17.
The demand from the local community and regular commuters was raised following a recent inspection of the ongoing works at the Hitec City station by the SCR general manager. Upon learning of the scheduled virtual inauguration of the Hitec City facility, local rail user groups mobilized to request a joint inauguration.
In a formal representation submitted directly to the SCR general manager, the Train Travellers Association officially sought the inclusion of the Malkajgiri station in the July 17 program. The association pointed out that the extensive redevelopment works at the Malkajgiri station have already been completed, making it ready for public service alongside the Hitec City station.
Members of the Zonal Railway Users' Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) and the Divisional Railway Users' Consultative Committee (DRUCC) also voiced their support for the joint inauguration. They stated that passengers have been eagerly awaiting the official commissioning of the upgraded facilities at Malkajgiri.
According to the committee members, the formal inauguration of the redeveloped Malkajgiri station is crucial for unlocking key passenger amenities. Specifically, the official opening would enable the railway administration to shift the existing booking office to the newly constructed station building.
Additionally, the commissioning of the redeveloped station would allow for the immediate opening of the newly constructed ladies' washrooms for public use. The ZRUCC and DRUCC members have requested the railway administration to expedite the necessary administrative processes to ensure both stations are opened together.
