Malkajgiri Police Book 46 Cases Against Illegal Spa Centres With 17 In LB Nagar

The Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate registered 46 criminal cases against illegal spa centres following a large-scale enforcement drive in Hyderabad, with the highest number of violations recorded in the LB Nagar Zone. Officials reported the crackdown on June 5, 2026, after conducting extensive inspections of 113 establishments across the commissionerate's limits.
During the special drive, police teams systematically inspected the spa centres to check for compliance with local regulations. Out of the 113 establishments visited, 46 were found to be operating in direct violation of the law. The LB Nagar Zone emerged as the area with the highest concentration of infractions, where police inspected 47 establishments and booked 17 cases.
According to Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B Sumathi, the inspections revealed multiple operational violations across the targeted establishments. The illegal practices uncovered by the police included operating the centres without the required official permissions and maintaining concealed rooms that lacked transparent doors.
Furthermore, the violating spa centres failed to collect mandatory identity proofs from their customers. The police teams also discovered that these establishments were not maintaining the mandatory records of their daily operations and visitors.
As a result of these findings, the police registered cases under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other applicable laws against the offending establishments and their operators.
Following the enforcement drive, Police Commissioner B Sumathi issued a warning to property owners in the area, advising them to thoroughly verify the credentials of tenants before leasing out their premises for spa operations. The police department also urged local citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or illegally run spa centres in their neighbourhoods to the authorities.
