Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation Reviews Ganesh Chaturthi Immersion Plans

Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation officials held a review meeting at the civic body's Tarnaka headquarters on Saturday to finalise civic and safety arrangements ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14.
MMC Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy met with zonal commissioners and heads of departments to inspect preparations along Shobha Yatra procession routes. The review covered the deployment of static and mobile cranes, sanitation, road conditions, power supply, and facilities at lakes and baby ponds across the corporation's limits.
Commissioner Reddy instructed engineering officials to identify damaged stretches and potholes along the identified immersion routes, setting a strict deadline of September 13 to complete all patchwork and road repairs. The civic administration was also directed to set up temporary or artificial immersion ponds where needed to supplement existing water bodies.
To oversee immersion operations, dedicated control rooms will be established at major water bodies, including Safilguda Lake, Kapra Lake, and Saroornagar Lake. The commissioner directed officials to deploy boats, expert swimmers, life-saving gear, ambulances, and paramedical teams on standby at these key immersion locations.
Sanitation measures will include the deployment of Ganesh Action Teams (GAT) at intervals of every 3 to 4 kilometres along the procession routes to ensure the immediate clearing of waste and garbage.
Commissioner Reddy urged all participating government departments to coordinate closely to ensure the upcoming festival is conducted safely, peacefully, and cleanly.
